While pregnancy is one of the most exciting times in one's life, it brings with it a myriad of changing physical conditions that can be hard on a woman's body. While these changes are natural, there are a multitude of treatments that can not only relieve pregnancy-related pain, but equip your body for a better experience before, during, and after labor.

When it comes to pain, most pregnant women experience discomfort around their ligaments, the SI joint, and lower back. As the pregnancy develops and the baby drops further down, women will experience more discomfort in the pelvis and lower back, including their round ligaments.

During this time, the body releases Relaxin, a hormone that allows the ligaments to stretch in preparation for labor. Our approach to women's chiropractic care is very gentle as to not overextend or stress the body. We use specific tools to control distribution, some manual work, as well as some cranial sacral practices. Often, we combine these care techniques with physical therapy that focuses on light stabilization, strengthening the pelvic floor, and preventing diastasis recti (separating of the abdominal muscles). These treatments also help with sciatica, neck pain, and migraines that are often associated with pregnancy, as well.

Post-Pregnancy Chiropractic Care

Post-pregnancy care is vital to the rehabilitation of your body after you've delivered your baby. Contrary to popular belief, women can rectify many of the physical traumas brought on by labor and do not have to suffer indefinitely. Through the proper chiropractic care and physical therapy, women can strengthen the pelvic flood and reactivate their abdominal muscles for proper healing. We also work with women to correct many of the painful posture problems that accompany motherhood through activities like breastfeeding and caring for baby.

Newborn Chiropractic Care

We highly recommend bringing your newborn in during your appointments. We're able to see both mother and baby immediately after delivery and can help alleviate many of the common issues newborns face early on. Chiropractic care can treat colic, digestive issues including regurgitation or excessive spitting up, irregular bowel movements, range of motion, and more.
